What is the first thing you say to him, after you make him sit down? Most likely <\/span><b>you ask him if he would like a coffee<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is because, in Italian culture, <\/span><b>coffee is the quintessential symbol of welcome<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, to the point that offering it to our guests is a gesture we consider absolutely <\/span><b>normal and spontaneous<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This applies, all the more so, if you are particularly skilled at making coffee, perhaps because you possess the <\/span><b>best means to do so<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The important thing, however, is how this exotic experience is experienced.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As we have already mentioned to you, in fact, drinking Arabic coffee represents a real <\/span><b>ritual<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that, as such, has very specific &#8220;rules&#8221;. Refusing a cup, for example, is considered an <\/span><b>unkind gesture<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (so don&#8217;t do it!). In addition to this, when you drink it, always hold the cup (which in tradition is called &#8220;<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">finjaan<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;) with your right hand and <\/span><b>avoid filling it to the brim<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to avoid looking rude.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The moment you finish drinking it, <\/span><b>shake the cup slightly and move it to the side<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: this way you will make it clear that <\/span><b>you do not wish to refill it<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, although tradition &#8220;dictates&#8221; that you drink <\/span><b>three cups<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. What you should keep as faithful as possible, however, is the <\/span><b>way of preparing <\/b><b><i>Qahwa<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which we are about to explain in detail.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The difference between Arabic coffee and Turkish coffee<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Arabic coffee and Turkish coffee are often confused, but they differ significantly in both <\/span><b>taste <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b>preparation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Arabic coffee<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, also known as Qahwa, is a spiced drink with an <\/span><b>aromatic and delicate flavour<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, traditionally prepared with cardamom, cinnamon, cloves and saffron. It is generally served<\/span><b> without sugar<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and accompanied by <\/span><b>dates or traditional sweets<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Turkish coffee<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, on the other hand, has a <\/span><b>more intense and full-bodied flavour<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. It is prepared using a <\/span><b>very fine coffee powder<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> boiled directly in water inside the traditional pot known as a cezve or ibrik. Alternatively, you can replace it with a <\/span><b>high-sided pot<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by getting the following ingredients:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3 tablespoons coffee powder;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">6 cardamom berries;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">orange blossom water, or rose water;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00bd tablespoon cinnamon powder;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">6 cloves;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a pinch of saffron;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">coffee powder of Arabica quality.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Place the spices inside a mortar and <\/span><b>pound them to a powder<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Having done this, place the saucepan (or dallah) on the stove, bringing <\/span><b>700 ml of water<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to a boil. Just before it comes to a boil, remove the saucepan from the heat and <\/span><b>add the coffee<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, waiting one minute before <\/span><b>putting it back on the heat again for another ten<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Remove the saucepan from the heat again and <\/span><b>add the previously pulverized spices<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, after which <\/span><b>bring it to a boil for the third and final time<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. At that point, your Arabic coffee will be almost ready: <\/span><b>let it rest for 5 minutes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and add a few drops of orange blossom (or rose) water along with saffron, which will enrich your drink with a unique taste!<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Conclusion<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When your exquisite Arabic coffee is finally ready, you can <\/span><b>serve it to your guests<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: to do so, you will simply <\/span><b>strain it and pour it into a thermos<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, from which you will go to distribute it into individual cups and <\/span><b>without spoiling it by adding sugar<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. In fact, remember that <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Qahwa<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is savoured <\/span><b>strictly bitter<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and if you wish to sweeten the flavour a bit, you can enrich it with sweet cookies, candied fruit or the traditional dates.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And, with this last tip, we have come to the end of our guide dedicated to the <\/span><b>preparation of Arabic coffee<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
