If a husband failed to satisfy his wife\u2019s coffee demands, she could even ask for divorce! But coffee was also part of <\/span><b>weddings<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: future brides had to pass a sort of \u201ctest\u201d to prove they could make Turkish coffee perfectly, a skill that somehow symbolised their ability to run the household.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In short, Turkish coffee has always been more than just a drink: it is a <\/span><b>symbol of hospitality, love and bonds<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This beautiful coffee pot looks like a pyramid-shaped copper pot with an elegant long handle.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you are lucky enough to own it, or intend to obtain it for personal pleasure, we can safely say that half <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of the recipe<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is done and you will simply have to collect the remaining <\/span><b>ingredients<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, namely:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1 teaspoon fine coffee powder;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">50 ml water;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sugar and flavourings to taste.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">First, you have to <\/span><b>pour the water into the cezve and put it <\/b><b>on the heat<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When the water has almost reached boiling point, remove the cezve from the heat. At this point, you can<\/span> <b>add the sugar and flavourings<\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(usually cinnamon or cardamom)<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, depending on how you prefer to taste the Turkish coffee. Once this is done, put the coffee back on the cooker and, after giving it a good stir, wait for <\/span><b>it to increase in volume and foam<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">stronger, more flavourful taste<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the coffee should be boiled <\/span><b>twice consecutively<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, taking care to <\/span><b>remove the cezve from the heat between boiling<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. At your choice, you can decide whether to keep the foam or remove it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finally, the last step is to <\/span><b>add a tablespoon of cold water<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to accelerate the <\/span><b>deposition of the powder on the bottom<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and then pour it directly into the cup without filtering it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As you can guess, it is not a matter of preparing a simple coffee, but rather of performing a kind of <\/span><b>ritual<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, complete with a &#8216;holy grail&#8217;. Take your time: Turkish coffee isn\u2019t made in a hurry.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>How to make Turkish coffee without cezve<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As an alternative to the cezve, it is possible to prepare Turkish coffee with the help of a simple <\/span><b>cooking pot<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In principle, any model will do, as long as it <\/span><b>does not have a rounded structure<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (which would prevent even heat distribution) and is <\/span><b>equipped with a lid<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The ideal would then be to use <\/span><b>low-mineral or demineralised water<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> instead of tap water which, containing chlorine, would risk altering the taste of your Turkish coffee.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Preparation with the saucepan is not particularly different from preparation with the cezve, as the basic rules are always the same. Here as well, you <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will have<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to <\/span><b>put<\/b><b> the water on the <\/b><b>heat without bringing it to the boil <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and then <\/span><b>add the sugar and any spices<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
